About me
Hi! My name is Jenn Chan (she/her). I was born and raised in San Francisco and I am a child of immigrants from Taishan and Guangzhou. People describe me as kind, approachable, calm, and non-judgmental. I graduated from the Wright Institute with an MA in Counseling Psychology and from UC Davis with a BS in Environmental Policy Analysis & Planning.
My path to becoming a therapist wasn’t a straight line. For years, I worked in other fields while managing challenging family dynamics shaped by cultural expectations and intergenerational differences. During that time, I experienced burnout and began to lose touch with myself. The pandemic created an unexpected pause, offering space to reflect deeply on my life and values. It was then that I reconnected with a calling to support others through healing and growth.
My diverse professional experiences taught me how to connect with people from all walks of life, adapt to their needs, and navigate complex systems with empathy and clarity. These skills, combined with my lived experiences and ability to listen, problem-solve, and foster collaboration have prepared me to create a supportive and understanding therapeutic space for my clients.
I currently live in San Francisco with my husband, two cats, and turtle. In my spare time, I enjoy taking care of my houseplants, watching stand-up comedy, cooking new recipes with friends, practicing my Cantonese, and exploring new places by bike, transit, and foot.
